Dr Jim O’Donovan is a Consultant in Sports & Exercise Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine and previously Programme Director for Higher Specialist Training in Sports and Exercise Medicine in Ireland. He completed his training with a fellowship at the Sports Surgery Clinic and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Over the years he has worked as Head Doctor for Leinster Rugby and Munster Rugby, as well as with the GAA Medical & Scientific Committee.
Other highlights of his career have been working at two European Games and three Olympic Games; holding the privileged role of Chief Medical Officer for Team Ireland at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. He is Head of Medical Services at Sport Ireland Institute and previously worked at the Sports Surgery Clinic Santry.
Dr O’Donovan sees patients of all ages and activity levels. He has experience in a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions and performs ultrasound guided injections.
